POST TREATMENT CHEMICAL PEEL INSTRUCTIONS

For two days post procedure:

  • Stay cool! Heating internally can cause hyperpigmentation.

  • Do not put treated area directly into a hot shower spray.

  • Do not use hot tubs, steam rooms or saunas.

  • Do not go swimming.

  • Do not participate in activities that would cause excessive perspiration.

  • Do not use loofahs or other means of exfoliation.

  • Do not direct a hair dryer onto the treated area.

  • Do not apply ice or ice water to the treated area, instead use a cool compress.

GENERAL GUIDELINES

  • Double cleanse daily with cool water and a gentle cleanser

  • It is recommended you change your pillow case the night of procedure and periodically through out the peeling process. If you can, try and sleep on your back.

  • After receiving a chemical peel, the skin may look and feel like a mild windburn for the next 2 or 3 days.

  • Medium-Deep depth peel : After 48 hours, peeling will occur for 3 to 5 days which can easily be controlled with moisturizers. If you consistanty get chemical peels, or good at consistent exfoliation, you may not get as much peeling. Don’t worry, this means you don’t have a lot of dead skin that needs to come off, however the effects of the peel solution is still doing its job by lightening the skin, absorbing bacteria, and anti-aging.

  • Light Peels : You may see light flacking 3-5 days post procedure.

  • It is recommended that makeup not be applied the day of treatment, as it is ideal to allow the skin to stabilize and rest overnight.

  • Medium-Deep depth peels : It is recommended you do not wear makeup until the peeling process is over.

  • It is recommended that you clean any makeup brushed before any makeup application post treatment.

  • To minimize side effects and maximize results, use recommended skincare as recommended by your provider.

  • Moisturizer should be applied at least twice a day but can be applied more frequently for hydration and to decrease the appearance of flaking.

  • Avoid direct sun exposure and excessive heat. You must wear a physical sunblock of at least SPF 30 daily. If you are outside, we recommend a loose fitting brimmed hat for added protection.

  • Avoid tanning beds for at least two weeks post procedure. This practice should be discontinued due to increased risk of skin cancer, signs of aging and to protect your skincare investment.

  • Do not pick or rub your skin! If large pieces of skin are hanging from your face (like after bad sunburn), they may be cut off carefully with a pair of blunt, clean scissors. Your dark old skin (which will peel off) initially serves as a protective bandage, which protects the fresh new skin underneath. The longer you can keep this natural bandage in place, the better the results your peel will give.

Do not have any other facial treatment for at least one week after your peel. You may resume the regular use of retinoids, alpha-hydroxy acid, beta hydroxy acid, vitamin c or bleaching creams ONLY after peeling process is complete.

If you are showing any signs of infection or have any questions or concerns please call your provider immediately.
